From Inception to Revolution: 25 Years of Doxim History, Growth, and Innovation in CCM

by | Apr 16, 2025

Revisiting the past shows us that the future of customer communications management is bright.

On January 6, 2025, Doxim celebrated its 25th year as a leader in customer communications management (CCM) for organizations in highly regulated industries. Despite some early hardships, Doxim has established an unwavering mission, grown exponentially, and throughout it all, continued to innovate.

Our origins were marked by an exciting time in tech, as Chris Rasmussen, founder and former CEO, launched Doxim, originally Interprise Solutions, at the height of the dot com bubble. When the bubble burst, Doxim persevered, thanks to our uncanny ability to identify and anticipate gaps in the market. Businesses were ready to go digital, and we were on a mission to see organizations in highly regulatory industries through their transformation.

In our early days, we focused on delivering e-statement solutions to the credit union sector. Today, we’ve expanded to include a variety of digital and physical channels for industries such as banking, healthcare, and utilities. Here’s how we got there.

25 Years of Doxim History

Our Mission – Doxim Pillars of Value

We continue to grow and evolve but our core values remain constant. They remind us to stay true to our mission of delivering secure, seamless customer communications at scale.
  1. Data management: We built our business on managing and protecting our clients’ data, which is our top priority. We deal in highly regulated industries, and information security and data management are critical to Doxim and our clients’ success.
  2. Operational excellence: Our clients trust us to process and distribute their data accurately and effectively in print and digitally.
  3. Managed service: We’ve honed our ability to anticipate and understand our clients’ needs. When you pair those instincts with our tech-enabled, client-centric managed service model, we can respond to evolving requirements with efficiency and precision.
From day one, we learned how crucial relationship-building was to the success of our business, and it’s become a blueprint for the way we connect with our clients. We’ve always been in it for the long haul, and our enduring commitment to superior customer service is a testament to that.

Our History – 25 Years of Growth and Innovation

Developing solid relationships with our clients has helped Doxim grow steadily over the years. By 2004, our portfolio expanded to over 100 clients and included a partnership with Impress Digital–a CCM firm serving financial services and regulated industry organizations. This partnership was a defining example of how vital relationship-building is to our business, because in 2009, we brought our partnership to the next level by acquiring Impress Digital.
Timeline of Doxim acquisitions beginning with Doxim, founded 2000. From left to right, Impress Digital in 2009, Arius in 2012, WEOCOG in 2014, Roler in 2015, Digital Mailer in 2016, IDS.com in 2017, Allison Payment Systems in 2018, MarketConnections, MessagingDirect and Utilitec in 2019, Pinnacle Data Systems, Striata and Laser Print Plus in 2020, and Level One and Direct Technologies Inc in 2021.
2016 was a pivotal moment for us, as it proved that what we were doing for small financial institutions in Canada could be applied to the US market with the acquisition of US-based Digital Mailer, a communications provider that served credit unions and community banks. This acquisition set the stage for an expanded presence in the U.S. market, and in 2019, Doxim acquired Utilitec, an omnichannel, CCM solution provider to broaden our scope to include the utilities sector. And we continued to grow. In 2020, Doxim took concerted efforts to expand its security capabilities with the acquisition of Striata, a leading provider of secure digital document presentment, delivery, and data privacy, positioning us to provide enhanced digital experiences, all within a secure and compliant framework. With Striata’s services integrated into the Doxim CCM Platform, the investment in a complete omnichannel CCM platform was almost complete. The most recent acquisition of print and fulfillment company Direct Technologies Inc. (DTI), in 2021, has helped Doxim come full circle. As a leading provider of highly visible customer documents in the healthcare, insurance and financial services sectors, this acquisition was a material component of our strategy to offer a full suite of customer communication solutions in highly regulated sectors.

Our Vision – For Today and the Future

As we look ahead, Doxim maintains the entrepreneurial spirit of its origins, while embracing the evolving needs and challenges of the market. With Mike Hennessy now at the helm as CEO, Doxim is poised to deliver even greater value to our clients.

Our focus now is to maintain the spirit of Doxim’s early days while transforming customer communication management solutions in ways that help us deliver a high standard of managed services through data management and operational efficiency.

We have an opportunity to continue expanding around the edges of a core value proposition that’s been in place for a very long time. We take unstructured data from our clients, help them turn it into an experience for their customers, and then we store that data and manage it on their behalf in a highly regulated environment.

We’re in a great position to build off the foundation that we’ve built over the last 25 years. And we’ve got an exciting future in front of us.
